What Is Aloe Vera?

Aloe vera is a stemless plant that generally grows in tropical climates throughout the world.

Nowadays, it’s used in consumer products as an ingredient in beverages, lotions, and cosmetics.

Although it's only just becoming widely popular in the United States, other cultures have long known how beneficial it is.

In the Ancient Egyptian culture it was known as the 'plant of immortality', and the legendary beauty Cleopatra is said to have used it as part of her daily skin regime.

I don't know about you, but if it was good enough for Cleopatra, it was good enough for me.

Want in on the aloe vera action?

If you don’t live near the tropics where the aloe vera plants are grown, you can easily grow them on your own right at home.

It's a succulent plant that's easy to keep and requires minimal maintenance. It can be grown right in the home year round or placed outside after the last frost.

There are actually two parts to the aloe vera leaf: the gel and the juice.

The gel is what I'll be discussing. This is the odorless and clear liquid with a thick consistency that you see deep inside the leaf.

This is not to be confused with the juice which is the substance that drips out of the leaf when it is cut.

What Are The Benefits Of Aloe Vera Gel?

best aloe vera gel

The gel has many benefits to it, including its most popular use for the scorched skin after being in the sun.

It has also been known to reduce heartburn, provide for quality dental care products, and for its ability to keep produce lasting longer.

The biggest benefit I’m looking at today is how well aloe vera gel works for the skin.

It’s a natural way to keep your skin clear and hydrated.

Did you know that the aloe vera leaf stores water to survive in the hot climates it grows in?

That is why it's such a vital component of keeping your skin moisturized!

Aloe vera contains all the vitamins necessary for healthy skin.

You’ll find Vitamins A, C, B, E as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium and copper.

When used for skin care, aloe vera benefits you because it’s rich in anti-inflammatory and soothing agents.

It also acts as a powerful, topical painkiller, which is why so many people use it for sunburn.

Some research even suggests that the gel contains substances that increase the blood flow to an injured area. This helps to dilate the blood vessels which will aid in faster healing.

Many people swear by using the gel to treat acne issues.

Some of the best aloe vera gel brands claim to be superior at reducing scars or eczema, while others specifically treat sunburn or windburn.

Can Aloe Vera Be Used On My Face?

The short answer to this question is, yes.

When it comes to taking care of your skin, especially maintaining the youth and vitality of those sensitive facial areas, the only solution you will ever need is the best aloe vera gel for your face. Aloe is an absolute blessing from nature.

Encompassing all the healing and hydrating powers that nature gives us so freely and naturally, aloe vera has, over the years, been used for the treatment of sunburn and insect bites, skin ailments such as eczema and rashes, and for the general rehydration of the skin and hair.

Although aloe vera originated in Africa, these days people grow it throughout the United States.

Aloe vera has gained popularity through its immense healing power, quickening the healing time of cuts and scratches.

The best aloe vera for your face should contain no harsh chemicals or preservatives. After all, you want to use the best and most natural products on your money-maker.

Let’s look deeper into the benefits of this wonder plant to help you understand why you can ditch your expensive moisturizer!

Aloe Vera gel is a wonderful moisturizing agent and it won’t clog your pores, unlike many store-bought creams and lotions.

Applying aloe vera gel to your face can also help reduce signs of aging due to its ability to lighten blemishes and keep your skin so well hydrated.

The same hydrating properties are very soothing for sunburn and other irritations, such as rashes caused by shaving, both common conditions that afflict the facial area.

Overall, aloe vera gel is not only safe to use on your face, but highly recommended!

Is Aloe Vera Gel Good For Treating Acne?

Aloe Vera contains saponin.

This compound has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties.

All of these do wonders to treat acne as well as help to minimize the visibility of existing acne scars.

Aloe vera gel helps reduce the size of your pores, which helps to keep out sebum, dirt and microbes.

These nasty's can cause pimples, therefore making it effective in the prevention of acne, not just a wonderful treatment option.

Free from harsh ingredients and chemicals that often dry out your skin, aloe vera gel offers an all-natural solution that’s safe for all skin types while keeping your skin well hydrated.

Is Organic Aloe Vera Gel Better To Use?

When it comes to aloe vera gel, many terms are often thrown about. One such word is ‘organic’.

Is it really better for your skin to use an aloe vera gel labelled in this way?

A truly organic product is free from chemicals, toxins and pesticides.

When you consider the fact that you apply aloe vera directly to your skin, from where it’s absorbed deep into your body, it has to be said that it’s best to avoid harsh substances that can do more harm than good.

Keep an eye out on the ingredients list on your bottle of aloe vera gel and steer clear of those that include excessive added ingredients.

The addition of extra water can dilute the natural aloe vera gel, therefore inhibiting its effectiveness, so be mindful of that too.

Things To Lookout For When Choosing An Aloe Vera Gel

Personally, I believe that when it comes to your body, the more natural the product the better. Avoiding harsh chemicals and unnatural ingredients will favor your skin and its condition, especially in the long run. As a general rule of thumb, you should look for a product that's as close to 100% natural as possible.

Avoid Products That Put Aloe Vera Through Unnecessary and Damaging Processes

Products that employ certain methods of extraction and processing end up doing damage to the plant and its useful properties, meaning you lose some of the precious nutrients. Think of it as boiling vegetables as opposed to steaming them, you're losing all those nutrients in the hot water.

Boiling, freezing, drying, and freeze drying are all process that should rather be avoided when choosing your aloe vera products. This will ensure a better, healthier, and more beneficial face care product.

Check The Ingredients

The first ingredient that you should see on the label is aloe vera, and not water or some other sugary-type filler. In many cases, products advertising 100% aloe vera are not 100% pure, technically speaking.

Many of these products have been watered-down, and don't provide the true relief and benefits that aloe vera has to offer. The ingredients in your aloe vera gel should be of the highest, organic quality to ensure the best results.

This brand also offers a 100% satisfaction money back guarantee, so you can be sure that your money won’t go to waste.

Pros & Cons

Earth’s Daughter’s aloe vera gel seems to check all the boxes to be the ideal aloe vera treatment for your eczema. It’s all-natural, with no chemicals, parabens, colors, scents, or any other additives.

However, they refrained from adding water so to not dilute the gel too much. The gel also absorbs easily into skin and hair so you don’t have to worry about an oily or sticky residue.

A satisfaction guarantee also protects this product so you can try it out without worry. Most importantly though, it has been proven to help clear up eczema and it’s also a fantastic formula of aloe vera for eczema scars.

However, no product is entirely perfect. For this product, the biggest complaint from customers was that the gel was rather thin with an almost watery consistency. They found it harder to use on their skin than a thicker gel.

On the bright side, this consistency doesn’t affect the overall use of the product or how effective it is. Some customers with very sensitive skin also had some trouble with this product, so make sure to test it on the back of your hand before you apply it to any more sensitive areas.

What Makes This Product Great?

The aloe vera used in this product is USA-grown and hand-harvested. The charcoal-filtering and cold-pressing processes make this the purest aloe vera product on the market today. It helps to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, making your skin softer and more supple as you age.

Additionally, this gel can be used as a hair care product. It hydrates your scalp and protects you against unsightly dandruff.

What Makes A Good Aloe Vera Gel For Stretch Marks

We also know that there's no such thing as a 'beach body'. We should go to the beach wearing whatever we want to, without worrying about being judged.

However, if your confidence is really impacted by your stretch marks, which may be caused by any number of things, there's no need to resort to drastic measures or harsh, chemical-filled products.

The properties that make it a useful pain reliever for skin irritation are the same properties that will help get rid of those stretch marks.

Other Considerations

As I've already mentioned, aloe vera does a wonderful job at minimizing stretch marks on its own.

Be mindful of added ingredients that can do more harm than good. Ingredients such as vitamin E or shea butter can be beneficial.

They help increase the effectiveness of the already potent aloe vera.

Aloe vera can sometimes be a little sticky and unpleasant to touch.

Look for a cream or gel that's absorbed quickly to avoid leaving an unpleasant residue on your skin.

In summary, the best aloe vera creams will go on smoothly, be absorbed quickly, and be free of any toxic additives.

Is Aloe Vera Gel Or Cream Better for stretch marks?

In order for aloe vera to work effectively on your stretch marks, it needs to be able to penetrate and moisturize the skin deeply.

A cream may feel less sticky on your skin and the smooth application may feel like it’s being absorbed, but creams often contain a whole host of extra ingredients.

These ingredients can actual be detrimental to your skin and stop the aloe vera from doing its job properly.

A gel formula, such as Earth’s Daughter Aloe Vera Gel is often purer and means you get all the natural wonders of the plant without any nasty additives.

A gel is also likely to contain a fairly high water content - although not too high that it feels runny and watered down.

The natural water component gives your skin cells extra hydration to help with rejuvenation.

Aloe vera gel also feels more soothing. Thanks to its quick-drying nature, applications can be done in quick succession.

This ensures the aloe vera gel gets to work at replenishing your skin and removing those stretch marks!

Different Ways To Use Aloe Vera On Stretch Marks

As is often the way, prevention is better than cure! The problem with stretch marks, however, is that you can’t often predict them.

Sure, a pregnancy or rapid weight loss are factors which indicate the likelihood of stretch marks, but often they sneak up on you.

Earth’s Daughter Aloe Vera Gel is an easy-to-apply pure aloe vera gel that will show results quickly.

The pump style bottle allows for simple and quick application. It can be applied directly to you skin.

In fact, it dries so quickly you can apply several coats in quick succession for maximum benefit.

However, if you’re looking for super-fast results, there are some additional ways you can combine aloe vera with household ingredients to try and speed up your results.

Aloe Vera And Coffee

Combine the aloe vera with ground coffee to make a paste, then apply to your skin.

Massage the area, leave for about 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Apply a final coat of aloe vera gel. The coffee will help with skin elasticity and fade more prominent scars.

Aloe Vera And Lemon Juice

Adding fresh lemon juice to your aloe vera gel will help exfoliate your skin, allowing for faster growth of new skin cells.

Apply the mixture and leave to dry for about 20 minutes before washing off with warm water. Again, apply more aloe vera to the area to prevent drying out.

Aloe Vera And Vitamin E

Look out for gels that already contain vitamin E as it’s crucial to helping with skin elasticity and rejuvenation.

You can also add your own vitamin E by bursting a vitamin E capsule and combining it with your gel.

Simply apply your new formula as normal, and as often as you can!

Using Your Aloe Vera Gel

Once you’ve picked the best aloe vera gel brand for your needs, you’ll naturally want to get using it right away.

Here are some tips and tricks to keep your skin happy:

  • Use pure aloe gel on a cotton ball as a natural eye makeup remover.
  • As a shaving cream, aloe vera gel provides for a nice close shave that also moisturizes.
  • Fill some ice cube trays with aloe vera gel and keep around for those times when you need relief from bug bites, poison ivy, and even psoriasis.
  • To use as a face wash, simply mix 1 tbsp of aloe vera gel with 1 tsp almond milk and 1 tsp lemon. Wash your face and allow it to sit on the skin for a few minutes before rinsing.
  • To make an anti-aging wash, you would mix with 1 tsp raw, organic coconut oil and follow the same steps as above.
  • Aloe makes a great base in a natural exfoliator. Mix it with baking soda or brown sugar until it’s slightly gritty but not too scratchy. Use it while in the shower on your feet, elbows, arms or anywhere that needs some extra softening.
  • Make a facial mask that can be worn overnight. Simply blend aloe with cucumbers and half an egg white to boost the hydration of your skin.
  • Use aloe after tweezing your eyebrows to bring instant relief and reduce pain.
  • Place the gel on your cold sores for a quick recovery.

Aloe Vera Juice and its uses

Why Use Aloe Vera Juice For Your Hair?

Maybe you've noticed your hair starting to thin or perhaps you just want healthier shinier, longer hair. Well, one of the best methods to do this is to use aloe vera juice for your hair.

Many people don’t know that humans have used aloe vera for their hair and skin since time immemorial. Cleopatra herself used aloe as part of her daily beauty routine. If something has been used for millenia, there must be a good reason for it. It actually does work and I highly encourage you to try it and see for yourself.

You will discover that after using this juice on your hair it will be less oily because aloe vera helps prevent the buildup of oil and grease.

Your dandruff will be completely eliminated and your pH levels will be maintained and balanced.

Of course, this juice will also moisturize your hair shafts delivering all the necessary minerals and vitamins that it’s so sorely lacking. You just mix half a cup of the juice with any carrier oil such as coconut oil and then apply to your hair from roots to tips.

This is like a deep conditioning treatment so you'll only want to do this on freshly washed hair. I like to then put a hair cap or towel over and let it soak in for a few hours so my hair can really absorb all the nutrients. You then simply rinse and you'll notice and feel the difference even after one application.

Aloe vera gel is a natural hair product you can also use which has all the same great properties as the juice, just in gel form.

Aloe Vera Juice as natural treatment for ulcer

Aloe vera has been used for its medicinal and therapeutic properties for centuries. It offers those that use aloe vera juice for ulcers with relief and generally uplifts a person’s well-being.

The benefits of aloe vera have, in recent years, become more widely-known. It's now a popular remedy and a viable treatment option.

Weight loss is one of the many benefits that accompany the use of aloe vera as a drink. It also helps with gastrointestinal issues and a myriad of overall appearance and well-being issues.

Aloe vera juice containing pulp from the leaf is rich in fiber and natural nutrients. It has a whole host of essential vitamins and minerals. Aloe vera juice soothes ulcers in the stomach, easing the pain and discomfort and helping them to heal.

Now, let me take you through some important things to consider when choosing an aloe vera drink.

What To Keep An Eye Out For When Buying Aloe Vera Juice?

Make sure you're buying pure aloe vera juice

Many of the juices on the market today get mixed with other juices or ingredients. These ingredients and other additives should be obvious to the user so that you know exactly what they contain.

Aloe should also be the primary ingredient on the list and the key ingredient in the overall mixture.

Look for Organic Juices

Organic juices mean that the plants used to make the juice grow without the use of pesticides or any other chemicals. If producers grow the aloe using pesticides, they will inevitably make it into your juice.

When looking to improve your health, don't compromise yourself by consuming non-natural aloe products.

You Don’t Need Anything Else in Your Juice

Your juice will and most probably should contain some kind of natural preservative. The important thing here is that it really is natural. Other than that, organic juices shouldn't contain any additional chemicals or preservatives, sweeteners, or enhancers.

Natural health and well-being are what aloe vera juice is all about. Any additive might stop the juice from doing you as much good as it would in its natural form.

The Cons

There are some customers that have used this product to no avail. Of the reviews that I've seen of this product, there are only a handful of unsatisfied users, some saying that the product simply did nothing for them.

Others claim that this product caused them stomach pain and unpleasant abdominal sensations. Although these claims cannot be taken lightly, it seems to me that the vast majority of users have found this product to be useful and worth every penny.

How Can Aloe Vera Juice Help With Weight Loss?

Aloe vera works in several ways to aid in weight loss. First, it provides a huge array of antioxidants that slow down the growth of free radicals which can be harmful to us. Aloe vera juice is also a natural laxative.

If there were any constipation issues, aloe vera juice is a wonderful choice to help improve the way food goes through the digestive system and detoxifying. The vitamins and minerals found in aloe vera juice help burn calories naturally. The vitamins mentioned earlier as well as folic acid and niacin will burn those calories and even fat.

Aloe vera juice has been scientifically proven to help raise the metabolism. This aids in burning fat and calories and also stops food from staying too long in the small intestines. It gives the body the energy and the will to get out and move more. It will also work with the body to turn carbohydrates and fat into energy.

This will keep the body from storing it and lead to a lower BMI (body mass index). Aloe vera will stimulate collagen production and this can help with muscles.

Recent short-term studies have shown that aloe vera juice can reduce belly fat. This is especially true of overweight diabetic or pre-diabetic people.

Another way that aloe vera helps those who are overweight with diabetes is that the juice can help manage the disease. It naturally helps keep blood sugars at a normal level. It can also slow down sugar absorption.

Drinking aloe vera juice regularly is recommended to diabetics for this reason, but this is also something that can help everybody.

It's recommended, if you’re drinking aloe vera juice for weight loss, to have some in the morning before any workouts. Since it's a natural metabolism booster, it will help get your body ready for the day and give it that extra energy to burn calories.

You should be exercising at least 30 minutes a day for 3-5 days a week. You'll want to avoid greasy or foods rich in fiber as this can bring an unwelcome effect to the gut since aloe vera juice already helps flush out the system!

In addition to that, if you suffer from severe intestinal issues such as Chron’s Disease, aloe vera juice should be avoided.

You should always start in small doses to begin with. Eventually, try 2-8 ounces of aloe vera juice every day for at least three months to see and feel the full potential.

What Sort Of Appliances & Equipment Do You Need To Make This Soap?

One of the most convenient things about making your own soap is that it doesn’t take much that you don’t already have. Any appliances or equipment you would need can all be found or made right in your kitchen!

You will need to use either a microwave oven or oven to heat the soap and a mold to shape it, which can be made from almost anything you have lying around, from boxes to yogurt containers. You will also briefly need a blender as well. However, it’s important to remember to wear gloves since you will be working with lye.

How Do You Make This Soap?

Before you do anything else, you’ll want to get your aloe ready. The easiest way to do this is to grab your aloe plant and squeeze the pulp out of a couple of leaves.

Measure out about ½ a cup of water into a jar or container.

The aloe on its own will be too thick, so you’ll need to thin it out. The fastest way to do this is to toss your aloe pulp into your blender and blend it until it has the consistency of a juice.

Now you’re going to add your aloe to the water and start to stir it.

At this point, you should start adding in a ¼ a cup of lye, stirring as you go.

While letting your mixture sit for a bit, you can mix the oils together in a separate jar (once you’ve added these, your mixture should be about a pint).

In your microwave oven/oven, heat this mixture at 120 degrees fahrenheit for a few minutes. It will need to cool once you take it out, but it’s important that when you work with your soap for the next step it's 95-105 degrees fahrenheit.

Combine your essential oils and lye mixture and stir for at least five minutes so that everything gets properly mixed. Your soap should start to lighten and thicken.

Pour the soap into your molds and wrap them in plastic and a towel. Let them sit for at least 24 hours, until they have hardened.

If you used a large mold, cut your soap into bars.

Let your soap set for about a month, turning it to expose a different side every week or so. Once this is done you can wrap your soap in wax paper to store.

By following the simple steps of our Aloe Vera soap recipe, you'll have no trouble creating this healthy and nourishing soap for you and your family. With the control that this recipe gives you, you can add extra essential oils depending on your family’s needs.

Aloe Vera Shampoo and uses

Many shampoos out there today are very harsh and contain a lot of added chemicals.

Have you ever considered using a herbal based aloe vera shampoo?

Aloe vera leaves are very rich in polysaccharides which help the skin’s re-growth and healing, reducing inflammation in the process.

The two key aloe vera shampoo benefits for your hair are the antifungal and antibacterial properties that it has. If you currently have dandruff and or an itchy scalp I guarantee that you'll see huge improvements after using this shampoo.

Dandruff is caused by environmental bacteria and fungi which are responsible for an increase in production of sebum oil which in turn irritates your scalp and causes dandruff. Aloe vera shampoo cleanses the scalp of excess oil and help remove all those dead skin cells.

Your hair follicles will be rejuvenated and cleaned so they can grow healthy and free. Using an aloe vera shampoo will also help your hair to be lustrous and strong because aloe vera contains a chemical similar to keratin. This wonderful element will penetrate deep into the hair shaft and nourish it with all the necessary amino acids and minerals.

Aloe Vera For Cuts & Scrapes

What Makes A Good Aloe Vera For Cuts & Scrapes?

Aloe vera is extremely beneficial to help treat the irritation and swelling caused by burns, cuts and scrapes. This is because it contains glycoproteins and polysaccharides. These have anti-inflammatory properties and soothing effects respectively.

When your skin is recovering from a cut or scrape you're likely to experience dryness and itchiness as it heals. Aloe vera is loaded with moisturizing and nourishing properties to ensure the healing process occurs more quickly and comfortably.

Aloe vera also has six antiseptic agents which inhibit viruses, bacteria and fungi.

It’s important to note that aloe vera is not suitable for large, deep wounds, but more for surface lesions.

If you have access to an aloe vera plant, you can cut a leaf open and apply the natural gel directly to the area in need. However, this method isn't always feasible, so you can buy an aloe vera gel to keep in your first aid kit.

Remember to keep the following factors in mind:

The less artificial and synthetic ingredients, the better. Alcohol, or ethanol, is one that should be avoided to minimize the stinging sensation when applying the gel.

Aloe vera should be the main ingredient to ensure that you’re buying a product with a high concentration.

You don’t want an aloe vera gel that leaves a sticky residue on your skin. Look for one that's quickly absorbed. A gel that is too watery will also be hard to apply, so ensure it’s the right consistency.

Cutting Your Own Aloe?

If you’ve decided to grow your own aloe plants, you’ll want to know how to properly cut the aloe for maximum benefits.

First, slice off all the prickly sides of the leaf.

Then, with the convex side of the leaf upright, use a vegetable peeler to trim off the outer layer.

Slide your knife under the gel and gently remove it from the other side of your leaf.

Dice up the gel into small pieces.

If you aren’t going to use all of it at once, you can refrigerate the leftovers.

Just be sure to use them within a week.

Whatever your reason is for wanting to use the best aloe vera gel in your life, you’ll be able to trust that the choices above will provide quality results not just for your skin care needs, but for a plethora of other functions.
